Basketball
The Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Department of Leisure Services offers basketball for boys and girls ages 7-14 (age prior to September 1 of the current year).
Registration begins in October - please check with DLS for specific dates. For Ben Hill County residents, the registration fee is $40/child (non-Ben Hill County resident is an additional $10). The registration fee includes team jersey, officials, scorekeepers, and basketballs. Parents will need to provide athletic shorts and shoes (rubber soles only).
If registering after the deadline, a $10 late fee will be incurred. At that point, your child may be placed on a waitlist and may or may not be placed on a team based on available spaces. No payment will be collected until your child is placed on a team.
Team practices begin in December with regular season games played January-February. Practices are held at the Jessamine Street Gym & Monitor Gym. Games will be played at Ben Hill Elementary. GRPA District competition is the last weekend in February and State competition is the first weekend in March.
You can make a difference in your community by volunteering to be a coach for a youth basketball team.

- Completed Registration, Liability Form, & COVID19 Release Form.
- If not already in our files, a copy of certified birth certificate or certified birth certificate for us to copy.
- Form of payment (note: after registration deadline - $10 late fee assessed, possible waitlist)
- cash or checks - payable to "City of Fitzgerald"
- major credit/debit cards - Any transaction under $100.00 will be charged a service charge of $2.99. All transactions over $100.00 will have a service charge of 3.5%.
- If your child has participated in a DLS sport before, don't forget to sign the book while you're in the office to verify your current contact information and complete the registration process.
