As a joint service of the city and county, the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Department of Leisure Services (DLS) is charged with the supervision and direction of countywide recreational activities.

For sports fans, the DLS offers some of the best youth sports programs in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and swimming. Not only do these programs teach athletic skills and sportsmanship, they also create teams that are successful in competitive arenas. Fitzgerald, which competes in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA), repeatedly wins district and state championships, as well as hosts some of the top tournaments on an annual basis. For some sports, we invite our community members to be a coach or sponsor for our athletic teams. Several youth sports camps run throughout the summer. Adult sports leagues are also available. All DLS sports require an activity fee. (2018 Rental Prices & Activities Fees)

The DLS oversees 9 city parks, a campground, and multiple rental facilities available for hosting your event. Senior programs include our bi-annual Spring & Fall fish fry's and a Christmas luncheon. We also offer opportunities for outdoor activities, such as playgrounds, walking tracks and trails, fishing, skeet & rifle shooting range, an archery range, a skateboard park, horseshoes, and tennis courts. Additionally, the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill DLS conducts or sponsors many annual events such as the 4th of July Celebration, Easter Egg Hunt, Wild Chicken Festival and more.
