CITY CHAPLAIN |
For many years our Police Department has been able to contact their Police Chaplain in situations where support and guidance was needed. We recently looked at having a Chaplain in the Fire Department and this brought about some further research. In an effort to assist and provide additional benefits to our employees, we have elected to have a City Chaplain available for any and all employees.
During recent storms with Hurricane Irma and Michael, Pastor Jeff Parmer was there to cook, clean, run out for food, pray; anything he could do to assist all of our staff and other agency staff members. Since Pastor Jeff has worked so closely with our team in these situations, we felt he would be an asset to our city team serving as City of Fitzgerald Chaplain.
We have come to realize that all of our employees should have the opportunity to reach out to a Chaplain when needed for whatever the reason. This is a benefit being provided by the City to its employees. We are, by no means, forcing a religion or church upon our employees, but only providing support and guidance from a member that has the ability and knowledge. We understand that tragic issues and circumstances face all of our employees, not just public safety employees.
Pastor Jeff has a full-time responsibility with his church but is offering his services to our employees. We hope that each of you will feel comfortable calling on him when needed. Pastor Jeff will make visits to each Department location to just say hello and will be available for counseling, spiritual guidance or support. There will be other services in the future led by Chaplain Jeff which will be forwarded by memos with payroll distribution.

"Lunch & Learn" with Pastor Jeff ParmerThank you for the opportunity to serve as your City Chaplain. This first month has presented me several opportunities to meet and spend time with the great employees of the City of Fitzgerald. I greatly appreciate Mayor Puckett, and Deputy Administrators Kathy Young and Cam Jordan for affording me this privilege.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us for what we hope will become a weekly staple, “Lunch & Learn”. The Lunch & Learn will focus on leadership principles and practices from the Bible. EVERYONE is encouraged to join us. Our schedule will go something like this:
The Lunch & Learn will be an “open group”. That is to say that anyone can join us at any time. Should you have questions , please give me a call at 229-425-9726 or email jparmer@crossviewbaptistchurch.com. I look forward to seeing you Thursdays at 12 noon. |
