CITY CHAPLAIN |
To assist and provide additional benefits to our employees, the City elected to have a City Chaplain available for all employees. This was started in 2019 with Pastor Jeff Parmer serving as the first City Chaplain.
We have come to realize that all our employees should have the opportunity to reach out to a Chaplain when needed for whatever the reason. This is a benefit being provided by the City to its employees. We are, by no means, forcing a religion or church upon our employees, but only providing support and guidance from a member that has the ability and knowledge. We understand that tragic issues and circumstances face all our employees, not just public safety employees. Pastor Gary Mimbs was appointed in April 2023 as the City Chaplain. Pastor Mimbs is the Senior Pastor for Fitzgerald Church of Nazarene and has pastored churches in Sandersville, Dalton, and Chester. He is an Honor Graduate from ABAC with a degree in Criminal Justice, served in Law Enforcement in early years, a certified Chaplain with the State of Georgia Correctional Division, and was a volunteer Chaplain for Dodge County Hospital in Eastman. Mimbs graduated from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in 2000. Mimbs and his wife of 40 years, Michelle has two children and two grandchildren. |
