Communications
Fitzgerald has a weekly newspaper, The Herald-Leader, published every Wednesday,
as well as three local radio stations: WRDO, 96.9 FM (soft hits); WKAA,
97.7 FM (oldies); WBHB, 1240 AM (gospel).
Financial Institutions
Fitzgerald has five financial institutions: Colony
Bank of Fitzgerald, Community Banking Company of Fitzgerald, Planter's
First, Bank of America, and Southtrust Bank of Georgia. Each bank offers
a full slate of checking, savings, and loan services. Branch banks and
automatic teller machines are located throughout Fitzgerald.
Government
Fitzgerald is governed by an elected mayor and a nine-member City Council.
Council members are elected to staggered four-year terms. Management and
administration are handled through the appointed offices of City Administrator
and City Clerk. The City Council meets the second and fourth Mondays of
each month.
Libraries
Fitzgerald boasts one of the most outstanding libraries
