First Annual
Georgia Harmony Jubilee
Fitzgerald, GA
April 20 - April 23, 2005

A spirited celebration of history, harmony and heritage
in the City where America reunited in 1896

This year's Harmony Jubilee kicks off Wednesday night, April 20th at 7:30 P.M. with the Dove Award winning Gospel/Bluegrass Lewis Family featuring "Little Roy," on banjo. This act was recently inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and is sure to please the crowd at the Grand Theater. Tickets are $10.00 at the Tourism office or the theater.

The celebration continues Thursday, April 21st with a 7:00 P.M. showing of this year's run-away Academy Award winner, "Million Dollar Baby." Clint Eastwood directed and starred in this story of the real world of female boxing. Enjoy it in 28 speaker Dolby surround sound at the Grand. Tickets are $3.50 at the box office.

Friday morning at 9 A.M. the Georgia Harmony Art Show opens its doors at the Colony Art Gallery. Come view 70 juried works by over 30 Georgia artists. Pit your eye against the judges who selected this year's winners. The show is free and continues through Saturday.

Friday Night at 8 P.M. join us for a free street party at the corner of Pine and Main, featuring "The River." This band has a strong regional following and is sure to crank out
tunes to get your toes thumping.

Saturday morning the 23rd, the Georgia Harmony Jubilee Parade kicks off a day long series of events. The parade features flag bearers from all fifty states, our famed pet parade, bands and much more. The parade culminates in a recreation of Fitzgerald's 1896 "Roll Call of the States," at 10:45 A.M. in Centennial Park. Children's Activities, including a scavenger hunt begin at 11:30 and continue into the afternoon. The Pop Shop Band and Full House Band will provide music in the Grand Plaza Park and don't forget the Harmony Art Show at the Colony Art Gallery.

At 12:30 on Saturday, bring a sack lunch to the Blue & Gray Museum and Lunch & Learn with Sue Rochfort, an expert on historic clothing and jewelry. For a $3.00 contribution, you will be amazed at what was 'haute couture," when Fitzgerald was founded. Call (229) 426-5069 to register.

Be sure that's a hearty sack lunch because you'll need lots of energy to play old-fashioned "Chicago Style," softball at Boggus Park at 2 P.M. (corner of Johnston and Chatahoochee). Hats, gloves, and jerseys are provided. This will be one of the most hilarious events you'll ever witness or participate in. Don't miss it. It's free.

Be sure you're back at the museum at 4 P.M. for a book signing by Fitzgerald native, children's author, Brenda Seabrooke. Brenda is one of the top children's authors in the U.S. and it's always a pleasure to have her back home.

Our festival wraps up Saturday night at 8 P.M. with a live performance of "Juke Box Saturday Night," featuring the music of the Bushmen and performances by a host of talented actors and actresses. If you've ever seen it, you'll want to see it again. If you've never seen it, you won't want to miss it. Tickets are $10.00 at the Grand; $5.00 for children under 12.

Come celebrate with us, the unique story of Fitzgerald's founding and enjoy a weekend of true harmony.

The Jubilee is planned by a broad-based community committee
in partnership with the City staff.
